Amprius
John Honchariw leads efforts on governmental partnerships at Amprius. Amprius’ breakthrough silicon nanostructures are the leading technology for next generation lithium ion batteries. The technology was initially developed in Professor Yi Cui’s lab at Stanford University. In the last 18 months, Amprius has taken the technology beyond laboratory scale and taken a leading position in high energy density materials development. Amprius is currently financed by VantagePoint Venture Partners, Trident Capital, Dr. Eric Schmidt, and Stanford University. In early 2010, Amprius was awarded a $3M grant from NIST to support the development of high volume manufacturing technology. John earned a B.S. and M.E. in mechanical and systems engineering respectively, and advised large technology companies on strategy issues at the San Francisco office of Bain & Company before joining Amprius.
