Jim Epolito is the Principal of HMA Capital 2, a private equity division of Health Management Associates. He is raising a multi-million dollar fund for Health Care Investment. He is also managing the portfolio of business from HMA Capital 1. HMA is a twenty-five year old health care consulting firm with offices in eleven state capitols across the US and focuses on the public side of health care.
Previously, Jim served as the president of Delta Dental, Michigan. In 2005, Jim was named the new president and chief executive officer of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the state's economic development agency. The MEDC provides administration of the 21st Century Jobs Fund initiative, directs economic policy development, business retention and attraction, technology development, trade and international investment, tourism promotion, business marketing, and community development functions.
Mr. Epolito joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) in 1978 as a legislative analyst and rose through the ranks of the organization. He served as BCBSM's vice president of state and federal governmental affairs. From 1991 through 1994, he was president and CEO of Blue Care Network - Health Central. From 1994 through 2005 he was president and CEO of Accident Fund Insurance Company of America and senior vice president of subsidiary operations, BCBSM.
Mr. Epolito has been recognized because of his exceptional leadership, professional achievement and personal dedication and service to the community. He received a master's in public administration from Western Michigan University and his bachelor's degree in communications from Michigan State University.
